Once Words
Our children
Are the stars
In the night
In reverse
Lights
That have already
Died
We knew their names
Before they existed
We wished it
And lost it
In the same
Breath
It's the same
When
I think of
Our future
Carefully planned out
A dream so vivid
We woke with
Syrup on our tongues
But it is done
Before we reached it
A tomorrow
Written
In a notebook
That's missing
That's been thrown out
With the last scraps
Of hope
Left in my soul
W and E
No longer a whole
So we go
Our separate ways
Cause it's necessary
Cause you need
And I need
Things we can't be
For each other
So we cover
More ground
On our own
Better for being alone
And one day
We will come together
And share
What we have found
What we have now
What we have made
Without the weight
Of us
Of the names
We no longer need love
Of the life
We were wrong to
Have dreamed of
Our children
Were stars
Far
From our reach
And we loved them
Each
Well before
They were made
Of you and me
Who are Lights
That have already died
And no longer
Shine enough
To guide this night
...
