Fade Words

Slowly

Ever so slowly

The dream fades away

And though I resist

I know that it's

Necessary to exist

To let tomorrow

Be written

Again

Because the last words

The ones I was so sure of

The one's I swore my heart to

Are just not true

Not anymore

Not today or the next

Or the forever I was set

On meeting

So I have to let it melt away

I have to turn

To a blank page

For my new

Now empty stage

And I wish that I was wrong

I wish that I was right

Where my heart felt it belonged

But I know now

That slowly

Ever so slowly

I must wake up

And let that dream fade

And begin this

The next new day
