Urge Words
We are human
you and I
we have inside of us
an urge
that will not
can not
die
it is a whisper
in it's
infancy
barely born
when it first stirs
my surface
a nervous chill
trailing down my spine
when you and I
meet eyes
and this spark ignites
day in
and out
it moves through me
getting bold
loud
begging to be
let out
and I falter and fight
for control
but it's so
that I can barely stand
I can tell
that you hear it
that you feel it
how it thrives on our nearness
I take note of the ache
at the back
of your throat
when you notice
my shirt slip slowly
off my shoulder
I see your jaw
hard and tight
fighting that urge
secretly liking that urge
and I'm nearly undone
by it's clear and honest
promises
I need only be open
it need only be spoken
let me
set me
free from this
let me let you
be the rest
of the sentence
be the best
of my endings
offer you
a softer view
the urge presses
the insides of my mouth
teeth bite down
on lips
wet for this
the call rings against me
tempts me to take you
break you
and your hardness
on me
over me
lower me down
in prayer
at the altar of us
of this need
this urge must be
in the room
right now
right, how else could the air
be this charged
how can it be this hard
to breathe
deep deep deep
please try to reach it
lets forget the rest of the world
we’ll be you and me
and instincts
clothes scattered
with our sensibilities
take this
take me
press, play, push hard
like the wall at my back
all
slow
go
and then fast
feverish frenzy
till the last
bit of energy that we make
fades
falls
free
from our mouths
our waists
glistens
on skin
the perfection of sweat
at the backs of knees
wet as the last of me
as we wonder
how that could’ve been
our first
and we shiver as
chills kiss and wants reemerge
yes, yes I hear it
let us revisit
the urge
