Silly really how she

reached across

the emptiness

even knowing she was lost

to his presentness

how she figured

smoothing over jagged rocks

could be done

by an avid clock

like time would change the truth

but we

he and I

wondered if she knew

or if perhaps her lapse

in judgment

stemmed from

such that

made her blind

and thus so eager

to re enter a room

that now remained locked

we chatted about

this on occasion

laughing as we

entertained insanity as

a possible plea

but he and I both knew

she had just found

a place

to entertain

her own desperate desires

and while

we wondered how

a person could

ever get to a place like this

we realized

we might try forever

before

we could find

something that made sense

to us

she was just

pathetic

so we let it

slide off our tongues

just as easily

as it arrived
