Forever Words

We found ourselves

At the end

Of the world

Together

Strangers taking chances

At changing

Each others last hours

Our hands at first

Quiet at our sides

Eyes

Searching for something

To be lost in

To be found in

Finding

First words

Hesitant hellos

Go ahead and let the language

Flow

For a little while we were

Dancing

A dance, precarious at best

Till we let

Each other in

At the end

Of before it's all that would bring

Any peace for me

And you

And the new we would build

Brick by brick of minutes

Ticked by

Clocks that lived

In these last moments with us

Laughing omens at us

Daring my heart

To be open to us

Seemed like slow motion

Gentle like

The still of oceans

We with candle lights

Bright

Illuminating life

Closed the distance

Given to us

Movements fluid

As life flashed before our eyes

We failed happily to fight

The magnetic pull

That lured my lips to yours

And yours to mine

We took our time

Tasted sadness, silence, strawberries, violets,

sunshine, and stars,

Soft, foreign, wet, yet

Somehow

Familiar, and old friend

Found in a kiss

The mingling of bliss

And spirits

Speaking across skies

Your hands caught the bottom

Of my shirt first

Then your eyes caught mine

Yes, now is fine,

Was the reply

Then returned

Shirt over head, body on body

Pressed into bed

Slowly we left

The remnants of humanity

Behind

Along with our clothes

And our notice of time

You became something else

Inside me

And I became something new

At the wake of you

Simultaneously something

Ancient, something sacred

Waves of ache

Washed through

This body

That I offered you

Soft

Juxtaposed along those

Hard edges that you used

To own

The last of my sanity

Naturally

I imagined

That you had been

Saving all of this for me

You had mapped me

Perfectly

Certainly

This was something

Beyond our understanding

Handing

Ourselves over

To each other

Lovers losing our lines

At the edges of time

Tied to just the trust of

These last few hours

By the light

Of the last moon

I came hard

Against the heat of

Of you

Your mouth catching

Me like snowflakes on your tongue

Melting at the touch

Inviting you to

Sink deep in these

Drifts

Building as hips lift

To meet the demands

Of your gifts

We melted then together

Getting closer

To the ends

Before the end

And then the truth

Hit hard

As bodies

Arched

And voices

Scarred the backs of throats

In throes

Of our most perfect agony

The clarity

That love achieves

There would always be

An us

Even amid the end

We had found the secrets

That time had hid

Eternity granted

To those who risk

You need only find

Love

So that you may always

Live
