Pacific Words
He is afraid
Of the ocean
But still
He seeks to swim
To sink
To be fully submerged
On the verge
Of testing the brevity
Of
Lungs
Surviving
The tongue
Reaching out
For tastes of salt
On lips
He wants this
He is afraid
But stays
The course
Dives
Free
With force
Functioning on will
Alone
To a darkness
He is afraid
To know
He dresses up
His tongue
With reassuring
Ramblings
That only he
Can understand
She offers
Much
But he
Is uncertain
Of her hands
Her heart
Is far
Too open
Owning plans
Blueprints
He sees
In his mind
Laid out
In front of her
Disguise
Drowning
Out his life
She waits
Patient
Till the salt
Clears
From his eyes
Till fear
Abates
She waits
She takes
Time to explain
He can stay
He can swim
But eventually
He must surface
And real breathing
Must
Begin
The reel begins
to settle in
This is it
He is honest
With himself
While the depths
Of oceans
Melt
Previous apprehensions
About the dangers
Of the sea
Just let it be
He comes
Up enough to see
The way the sun
Glistens
Kisses
Waves
He is
Drawn in
Her tide is strong
He stays
He prays
That she will always
Be this way
Letting him swim
Drowning
Away
The fears
He first felt
When he
Came
She is his sea
Just as
Sure as
His name
